I went into the Diablo 4 Season 12 PTR expecting the Paladin to get slapped down hard. That's usually how it goes when a class has been running the show. But the changes feel more like a tidy clean-up than a public execution, and it actually makes me want to keep testing. The awkward part is leveling. Word of Sacrifice jumping from a 15% to a 35% health cost is a big feel-bad early on, when your sustain options are thin and potions vanish in seconds. You'll catch yourself hesitating, or worse, you'll mis-time it and faceplant mid-fight. That's not harder in a fun way, it's just risky.


Judgment Rework And The Hands-On Problem
The Judgment rework also changes the vibe. Having to apply Judgment yourself instead of letting the spears handle it makes the loop more manual, and not everyone's going to enjoy that. On paper, the damage can still look fine. In practice, you're doing extra steps while dodging, repositioning, and trying not to waste windows. Some players will adapt fast, others will call it clunky and move on, and I can't really blame them. Sanctify staying viable for late-game grinding is the bright spot, because at least you've still got a route that feels steady.


Other Winners, And A New Loot Chase
Outside the Paladin bubble, Barbarians look like they're feasting; Warbringer at 45x while fortified is massive and pushes that brawling, bully-forward style right back into the spotlight. Necromancer quality-of-life is the kind of change you notice immediately, too, since Flesh Eater triggering off a single corpse makes bosses less of a setup routine. Druids keep their endgame bite with Thundershock buffs, while Rogue and Sorcerer multipliers feel a bit more cautious.
